Sara Women\u2019s Organization<\/a> is a non-governmental organization that struggles against violence against women and all forms of discrimination.\u00a0Women<\/a> of all sects and ethnic groups can be members of the organization. The organization was founded on July 1, 2013, in the Qamishlo<\/a> city of NE Syria to fight violence against women and empower women\u2019s participation in politics, economy, and social life. It also organizes seminars, protests, and programs to reduce violence against women. Reca \u0130sa, a member of the Sara Women\u2019s Organization, spoke to NuJ\u0131nha about their plans in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has branches in many cities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stating that the organization was founded to protect women from violence and women\u2019s rights, Reca \u0130sa says, \u201cWe have branches in Koban\u00ee<\/a>, Hesek\u00ea<\/a>, Sir\u00een<\/a>, and Qamishlo. Sara Organization was founded on the principle of solving women’s problems, ending violence against women, securing, supporting, and protecting their rights. We, as the organization, follow violence against women trials. As members, we are expected to constantly improve ourselves so that we can help women and solve their problems. We hold seminars in districts and towns for women to know more about their rights. We also work coordinately with other women\u2019s organizations in Rojava<\/a> Kurdistan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are Hope\u201d campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noting that Sara Organization launched a campaign called, \u201cYou are Hope\u201d against suicide among women, Reca \u0130sa says, \u201cRecently, the rate of suicide committed by women have been increasing. For this reason, we launched a campaign called, \u201cYou are Hope\u201d. We visited several schools and gave presents to students. We also monitored teachers’ relationships with young people and determined the needs of students. They are in a sensitive process; they are easily influenced by family, school, and society. That’s why we have a project to have a psychologist in every school. We will realize this project in the upcoming months. We are going through a war process. There are effects of war on society.  Because women are more concerned with their family income than men, they are most affected by economic or psychological problems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They launched a campaign as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara Women\u2019s Organizations launched a campaign with the motto. \u201cYour voice is my voice, no to femicides\u201d as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence. \u201cWe launched the campaign in Qamishlo, Koban\u00ee, Hesek\u00ea, and Sir\u00een. We distributed brochures and hung posters in these cities. Many men did not know the history of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.  We told them the history of this day. We visited Jinwar village<\/a> and held a seminar in Qamishlo as part of this campaign. We held a conference with the motto, \u2018Because You Are Free\u2019 in cooperation with the Women Pioneers\u2019 Network and the \u015eawi\u015fka Women\u2019s Association for victims of violence,\u201d Reca \u0130sa says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violence Monitoring Committee<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stating that Sara Women\u2019s Organization formed a committee called, \u201cViolence Monitoring Committee, Reca \u0130sa says, \u201cThis committee is important to combat against gender-based violence. The committee members follow the cases of harassment, rape, violence, femicide, and suicide. The court and Women\u2019s House<\/a> support us to follow these cases. When the court does not grant women their rights, we have the right to object to it. We don\u2019t accept women to be deprived of their rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violence rate in 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mentioning that violence is increasing all over the world, particularly in the Middle East, Reca Isa states that there are cases of suicide due to the psychological war against their region. \u201cIn NE Syria, 39 women were killed by men, 92 women were subjected to violence, 24 women received death threats, 5 women were subjected to abuse, 34 women committed suicide and 24 women attempted to kill themselves in 2021. We, as Sara Women\u2019s Organization, try to end violence and build a safe life for women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will open new branches in 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reca \u0130sa tells us their plans for 2022. \u201cWe will open branches in Derik<\/a>, Raqqa<\/a>, and Ayn \u0130sa<\/a>. We will continue to hold seminars and launch campaigns to eliminate gender-based violence.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
