{"id":12556,"date":"2024-05-20T13:06:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T12:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/?p=12556"},"modified":"2024-05-20T13:06:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T12:06:22","slug":"spokesperson-of-mala-jin-our-aim-is-to-save-women-from-patriarchy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/spokesperson-of-mala-jin-our-aim-is-to-save-women-from-patriarchy\/","title":{"rendered":"Spokesperson of Mala Jin: Our aim is to save women from patriarchy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cOur aim is to save women from patriarchy, slavery and the tribal system,\u201d said Yasm\u00een \u00cesa, Spokesperson of Mala Jin (Women\u2019s House) in the El-Tey\u00ee neighborhood of Qamishlo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the revolution that took place in North and East Syria in 2011, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/tag\/kongra-star\">Kongra Star<\/a>, an umbrella organization of women\u2019s organizations in northeastern Syria, established many organizations for <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/category\/women\/\">women<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/tag\/mala-jin\">Mala Jin<\/a> (English: Women\u2019s House) is one of these organizations. Having branches in all cities of North and East Syria, Mala Jin has also a branch in the El-Tey\u00ee neighborhood of <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/cities\/qamishlo\/\">Qamishlo<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<strong>\u2018We opened the branch after a year of work\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yasm\u00een \u00cesa, Spokesperson of Mala Jin in the neighborhood, told NuJINHA that they had opened the branch of Mala Jin in the neighborhood after working for a year. \u201cAfter the liberation of the neighborhood, the branch was opened with the support of the AANES and Kongra Star. At the beginning, we faced some challenges because some Arab people did not allow women to participate in the labor force due to the patriarchal mindset in society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2018Education changed Arab men\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After opening the branch in the neighborhood, the members of the branch performed home visits. \u201cWe told the philosophy of Kurdish leader Abdullah \u00d6calan to the people. Slowly, the people trust us and allowed women to work with us and participate in activities. Arab men told us, \u2018After getting to know your thoughts, philosophy, culture and society, our mentality towards you changed&#8217;. Actually, education changed Arab men,\u201d said Yasm\u00een \u00cesa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2018Our aim is to save women from slavery\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The members of Mala Jin work in coordination with the <a href=\"https:\/\/mesopotamia.coop\/communes-the-building-block-of-democratic-confederalism\/\">commune<\/a> in the neighborhood to solve the problems faced by women. \u201cOur aim is to save women from patriarchy, slavery and the tribal system. To save women, we should change the backward traditions and customs,\u201d said Yasm\u00een \u00cesa, indicating that Arab women are impressed by their activities. \u201cWhen they see how we work with a communal spirit, they want to work with us. Now, Arab women are the members of all our committees. They tell us that they have improved themselves thanks to the philosophy of leader Apo (Abdullah \u00d6calan).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<strong>\u2018We will support all women\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Calling on women not to \u201ckeep silent, accept slavery,\u201d Yasm\u00een \u00cesa said, \u201cThey should make great efforts to develop their society. They should defend their lands and country to the end. As Mala Jin, we will do our best to solve all problems faced by women and support all women.
